I live, write, and dwell in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq Nation. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship,” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. We are all treaty people and have a responsibility as such.

I encourage everyone to learn about the Treaties and our responsibilities as Treaty People.
